It’s especially important to care for your hardwood floors during the winter. All of the slush, snow, and salt can leave its mark on your floors.

Here are some tips on how to prevent your floors from being harmed by the weather.

  • Ask that guests take their shoes off near the door so they don’t track dirt and snow through your house.
  • Have a rug in the entryway where people can wipe their feet and remove their shoes.
  • Use a humidifier. The dry winter months can make wood shrink, but a humidifier will hep stabilize the humidity in the room so it’s consistent year-round.
  • Immediately wipe up any water that gets on your wood floors.
